Fred Koller, well known in Berlin for his austrian cuisine, and his partner Sibylle Hassfurther opened the restaurant ALT WIEN in September 2010. There you will find the best Wiener Schnitzel or Tafelspitz, and also a menu of austrian specialities that changes regularly. We recommend Kaiserschmarrn and a Melange after dinner!
Love it - to me one of the best Schnitzel and even though I try hard to resist - I actually Lways end up with the Schnitzel (they are huge)....
Very tasty schnitzel. The prices are a bit higher, but you get good quality and ample portions
Good organization in a state of emergency. Take-away food worked well and on time with pre-order over the phone. No long waiting times. The food: Wiener Schnitzel with its side dishes is extremely good. Roast venison very good too. I would really not order my Käsespätzle (Knöpfle) again. The prices are high not necessarily something for every evening. With pleasure again, next time hopefully with you again.
Really delicious food and very friendly service. Also highly recommended for picking up. Thanks for this service.
That was a real wrench ... I didn't get the food down and let it go back. The veal cream was a complete disaster .... What a shame .... Not even anyone was interested ... Unfriendly service. You can save yourself the trip ...
Absolutely the best Schnitzel in Berlin and a Sunday ritual for our family. I also love their Tafelspitz and Frittatensuppe.
The best schnitzel in Prenzlauer Berg, everything else delicious too :) and you are served in a friendly manner.
Delicious! Didn't see the plate for all the schnitzel! Knocked very thinly just as it should be! 😋
Great schnitzel !! There is nothing more to say. You don't have to know more.
Quality, service and the feel-good factor are exactly what you are looking for here. MEGA
Very nice Schnitzel and big portions. That's all you need for a good time. Highly recommend
super classic! What I like is that none of them is too salty.
Late night Saturday spontaneous dinner with a group of 5, they were very welcoming and accommodating, seating us outside. There was a water bucket for dogs, the server was very nice and witty, quick service and very delicious schnitzel- exactly what i had been craving 😋
Loove
Great experience ... Price-performance unbeatable AAA +++ ... Looking forward to the next time ...
I tried several type of Schnitzel il Berlin, and I can definitely say this one is one of the best, if not the best, especially because despite the fact that is HUGE, I didn’t feel full at all after eating it and the day after. It’s simple, well cooked, and it comes with a decent potato and cucumber salad. If you think the big dish is too much (it really looks like there are two schnitzel), there’s also a smaller size. The staff is quite nice as far as I can say. Will go back for sure. Not the cheapest restaurant in Prenzlauerberg, but it’s definitely worth the price.
Best Wiener schnitzel I've ever eaten! The portion is so big you could easily share.
Best schnitzel in town, for real!
Food was okay (that's why it was two stars), service out of the question. An unfriendly waiter (landlord?) Who doesn't even manage to say thank you when you point out to him that he has missed the bill by almost 30 euros to his disadvantage; but then he makes you wait a while and finally becomes cheeky. Never again!
Good german food
When telling you, the best Viennese schnitzel can be had in a 200 year old classy Berlin restaurant in city centre, the New York Times is wrong. This is definitely the best - and largest - in town, although in the Prenzlauer Berg vicinity. You can have a smaller version and the place features other typical Austrian dishes.
Best schnizel in Berlin. Our goal with our visit was to eat as many Schnitzels as possible and yours was the best one. Congratulations!
From the kitchen comes the sweet music of veal schnitzel preparation - everything is fresh and excellently cooked here: From the beef bouillon with fries or liver dumplings, salads with light dressing to sliced meat with dumplings or the schnitzel mentioned at the beginning. Tip: I also had smaller portions on request - so don't miss out on the starter! Friendly, attentive and courteous, yet discreet staff. Recommendation!
Wien schnitzel at best quality, highly recommended, lovely staff, reasonable price. Super A+++
Good food and everything was great. The star deduction only because they insist on naming the small portion of "ladies' schnitzel", which is really not possible.
All in all a solid Viennese restaurant, which lacks the real Viennese flair. The Viennese veal schnitzel is delicious, but almost too thin. The panate was a little too generous for that. The onion roast is fine, but nothing more. The starters were good too. In general, the dishes are good overall, but not outstanding, such as at Luther & Wegner. The portion sizes were okay during our visit. The service is mixed and more typically Berlin than typical Vienna. Conclusion: A solid Viennese restaurant, which you can certainly go to if you live in the corner, you don't go wrong. But it doesn't get to the top restaurants.
As a regular customer with a 25KM journey, I wanted to take 2 schnitzel with me today - the chef only said "nothing outside today". Otherwise it worked ... the food is really good but the service was super arrogant and very, very rude. I will not come back and will no longer advertise the store (as I have often done).
The food is outstanding. Just amazing. But the dude running it is a joke. I came here a bunch of times with my parents and he is really persistent in giving you a bad feeling. Dish served wrong? Your fault. Food half finished and you go to the toilet. Food gone, your fault. I mean like, why are you doing this dude? do you have some pressure to get rid of?
Very nice place, good food, good service. It's worth a visit
Great schnitzels. This is all I went for - it was huge. Willing to change the menu - which was also great. Good customer service.
Despite the difficult period we are going through, I thought it is right to talk about this restaurant, all in accordance with COVID-19, the staff is attentive to the rules as well as helpful and polite, simple menu but with specificity. I asked for cheese spetzler, with fried onions, with a side dish of salad and dressing, simply delicious. If you pass by, I highly recommend the reservation, since the provision is calibrated for a maximum number of people, so have the courtesy of realizing that they are really working hard and if at the moment, they are unable to please everyone, it is not their fault, said this approved 100%, danke Leute ich bin ganz zufrieden.
Extremely nice service paired with a really nice atmosphere and indescribably good schnitzels with delicious dark beer ... sounds over the top? We will definitely be back on our next visit to Berlin. The icing on the cake was also a low price.
Great Place & dinner had with the misses on my birthday in Feb. 21 great steak meal dinner had & veal dinner sweenybrate? Not sure name was all great had white wine. Meals were huge no small portions like in eastern countries or other places in Europe so come hungry before or you won't finish you meal. All Food meals dishes & drinks & side dishes plus desserts first class this visit was great meal and experience. From USA n.c. first time in Berlin too was safe great too problems had. A great Austrian restaurant and nice design looking with a bar too. Waitress at bar bartender was super friendly when walking in they said no tables available so she said we could sit eat at bar counter ok they asked we could use table sit eat there until the people came said ok 1 hour & half we had more than enough time to eat was so nice to do allow that for us shows you care much about customer service at least this night. Recommend yes to all hope your experience is great good as ours. Thank you all to staff cooks waiter waitress bar lady tender.
We were 13 people, had an amazing lunch and staff very gentle
Wicked (massive) schnitzel.
Absolutely the best schnitzel in Berlin. Better to reserve especially in weekends
The best wiener snittsel in town.
Best Schnitzel in Berlin! Call for reservations beforehand because it gets full quite fast... Big portions and a great place to go while in Berlin.
Best schnitzel ever! Super friendly service. I can’t wait to come back
Heart attack portions, great Austrian hospitality and what else do you need.
Pretty much the best Schnitzel you can get around here. Pricy but worth it!
Huge Wiener schnitzel, great quality. Belongs to the best Austrian restaurants in Berlin. Outdoor seating is available in summer.
Amazing food great service cool mysic ...
Great food, excellent staff in a very comfortable neighborhood setting. Fantastic!
Great Schnitzels, nice area of the city
Austrian restaurant in Berlin district of Prenzlauer Berg. I went there suggested by a friend ant it was a very good experience. A bit expensive, but quality has a value obviously. Weissbier y Schnietzchel (breaded beef and kind of potato puree with some onion rings). So good!! Nice local, service and people. I'll come back and also i'll recommend to my people.
I frequent Wien and can attest the Frittatensuppe and the Wiener Schnitzel is just as good as it gets.
Excellent food, large portions, service somewhat lacking during busy evening.
Most awful waiter I ever met. We reserved a table outside, he answered we should be happy to get one inside ! Then while we were eating, he sat other people on our table without asking us !
Excellent food! Probably the best schnitzel in Berlin. If you still have room in your stomach, I recommend the kaiserschmarrn.
